We
proudly sell items that are biodegradable, compostable and
recyclable. We keep in stock cups, containers, cutlery and
cleaners made from corn, potatoes and even bamboo. These materials
are formed into products that mimic the qualities of paper
and plastic, which makes them ideal for hot or cold, liquid
or solid, and greasy or dry foods.
As consumers
are increasingly committed to protecting their environment,
the demand for biodegradable materials will increase. Retailers
who use environmentally friendly products will distinguish
themselves from their competitors.

The
ecotainer cup is a new eco-friendly container designed
for hot beverages. It uses a lining made from corn instead
of petrochemicals. The objective in developing the new ecotainer
cup is to provide an alternative to standard paper packaging
one that is made from fully renewable resources, compostable
under the proper conditions, and with a smaller environmental
impact. Derived from corn.

Wilkinson
Industries is a leader in the extrusion and thermoforming
of plastic food service packaging nationwide. Now in North
America, Wilkinson is the first manufacturer to make a commercially
thermoformed all natural plastic container made from 100%
NatureWorks PLA, a polymer derived from corn and other
plants.
NaturesPLAstic
exhibits superior performance characteristics compared to
traditional plastic aspects and recycles back into the environment.
This uniquely sustainable packaging performs well under low
temperatures and provides excellent strength to resist cracking.
The high clarity and superior flavor and aroma barriers compares
exceedingly well to traditional plastics. Using up to 50%
fewer fossil resources than oil-based products, NaturesPLAstic
keeps a balance in nature by giving back the carbon dioxide
and water it borrowed from the corn or other plants to make
the worlds most natural plastic. From a post consumer
standpoint, the innovative compost properties of NatureWorks
PLA makes NaturesPLAstic the packaging key to our present
and future environmental needs. Click here for literature.

Biodegradable
Capable of being broken down especially into innocuous products
by the action of living things (as microorganisms)
Compost
is the aerobically decomposed remnants of organic materials
(those with plant and animal orgins) Compost is used in gardening
and agriculture as a soil amendment, and commercially by the
landscaping and container nursery industries. It is also used
for erosion control, land/stream reclamation, wetland constructions,
and as landfill cover. Compost is also used as a seed starting
medium generally mixed with a small portion of sand for improved
drainage.
Compost
Ingredients
Given
enough time, all biodegradable material will compost. However,
not all compost feedstocks are appropriate for backyard composting.
Most backyard systems will not reach high enough temperatures
to kill pathogens and deter vermin, so pet droppings, non-vegetarian
animal manure, meat scraps, and dairy products are best left
to operators of high-rate, thermophylic composting systems.
Certain
substances should not be composted by the average home-owner,
as they require more sophisticated systems, competent management,
and more efficient, cost-competitive, environmentally sound
technology.
